So, I’ve been missing for about seven months.
Okay, not missing missing. If you follow me on Bluesky, I still post there a bit, mostly about what I’ve been reading lately and Eurovision updates (I love when the goofy earworm wins, so Bulgaria was a welcome return to form after Austria classed up the joint last year). But I haven’t been here, giving updates or posts with my usual frequency.
Why? First, because I’ve been busy. Since Iconoclast came out, I’ve been juggling work, moving into a house, and planning a wedding (which happens this week, yay!). All of these things take a lot out of a person. Burnout’s a real thing, and it can kill even the most well-intentioned art.
Second, I wanted to come back with a bigger post, something to excuse my absence.
Which brings me back to the whole “I’ve been busy” thing.

Introducing Knight of the Chalice, my newest book!
Now, is this Rapscallion 3? No. I’m deep into the writing of that book, though, and it should be out sometime in 2027. It’s a longer book than its predecessors, and it’s taking a lot out of me, but I think it’s going to be worth the wait. There’s some SCENES I want you all to read.
Knight of the Chalice takes place in the same world as Rapscallion but isn’t about Lucas Mollifer or that crew. It’s a standalone novel mostly set during the period between Rapscallion and Iconoclast, though you don’t need to know anything about those books to read this one. It’s a self-contained narrative that just happens to be set within the larger world I’ve been writing in for the past few years. If you haven’t read anything by me before, Knight of the Chalice is a place you can start! If you have, well, thanks! I hope you enjoy this one too.
It’s out July 7th, and around that time I hope to put out a post that goes into the (often frustrating!) writing process as well as my influences for the book. Check back here and on my Bluesky (@treyweller.bsky.social) for more updates, as well as when pre-orders go live and other events I hope to attend near-ish the release date.
Knight of the Chalice has been a labor of love. I’m thrilled to share it.
